We arrived at Woking on Saturday looking to continue our winning run. When arriving at the pitch, we were one man down as Laura was no-where to been seen until we were about to start as she had mis-read the meet time! As soon as the whistle went Woking came at us hard and scored within the first 5 minutes of the match. However, as we have proven in our past 2 matches, as soon as the opposition scored we come back harder. With great play up the right, linking up with the central midfield, and as soon as the ball got into the Woking D, Pam took advantage and roofed it into the top right hand of the goal. Woking scored the next goal in open play but we soon equalised through Claude being so goal hungry! But once Claude started scoring, it was hard to stop her! Collette and Zoe did some very effective defending against their players and Emily did a fantastic job marking out woking’s sweeper. Claude managed to score another two goals before the half time, one from open play and another from going in on the post from a short corner.
We started the second half as we meant to start the match with Laura as center half but unfortunately with no jelly baby power! The second half showed us to be the dominant side, scoring another 2 goals – one from Claude, making it her 4th goal of the match and Georgia, who ensured that the ball got into the back of the net by being on top of the goalie. Unfortunately, the strength of the short corner defence was broken when Woking scored their 3rd goal. When the final whistle went , the score was 6-3 to us!
Well done to everyone who played yesterday. It really showed on our faces that we all enjoyed the match and deserved the win. Congrats to Claude who scored 4 goals. Let’s keep this momentum going forward to the next 3 matches and keep the goals coming from the forwards!
