Epsom: 2 (Hebden 2)

Havant 2s: 0

Sean Hebden’s two first-half goals saw Epsom to a solid 2-0 win over Havant 2s on Saturday. Epsom controlled possession in the first half and broke through on 20 minutes when a midfield turnover and quick break found Hebden who neatly reverse-flicked the ball past the onrushing keeper. Epsom continued to knock the ball around confidently and just before half-time Hebden scored again, this time smashing home from the top of the circle having been neatly set up by Scott Barton. 2-0 at half time.

Havant came out with more urgency in the 10 minutes after half time, winning three consecutive short-corners around the 40 minute mark. However, these were all defended solidly and Epsom subsequently took the sting out of the game with long spells of controlled possession. The lack of a third goal made for some nervy final stages as Havant threw men forward, but Epsom’s defence had looked solid all day and the match finished 2-0. Epsom next week travel to second-placed Woking.
