Epsom: 3 (Midmer 2, W.Hunt)
Eastbourne: 0
Following two straight defeats on the road, Epsom hosted Eastbourne in a really important game at Old Schools Lane. Epsom took an early lead when centre-back Brett Hosken advanced and slung a ball into James Midmer who deflected home for 1-0. Eastbourne had already started strongly and subsequently took total control of the first half with slick distribution and skilful midfield running creating a string of chances and short corners. Somehow Epsom survived against the onslaught and went into halftime 1-0 up. Having ridden their luck; Epsom turned the game around in the second half. Straight from the restart right-back Alex Bond smashed a ball in for the dangerous Will Hunt to set up Midmer to make it 2-0. Soon after Midmer took a ball on the half-way line and played in Hunt to power clear and fire home a rising reverse stick shot for 3-0. Epsom managed the next phase well taking the sting out of the game. Eastbourne continued to play at pace but lost some of their previous accuracy. As the clock ticked down Epsom had further chances but, in all honesty 3-0 was flattering enough given the balance of the early play.
Following the game the side held their annual race night fundraiser with over £1000 raised down at the club, thanks to everyone who supported the game and attended the evening, it really does make a big difference. Epsom have another big game away to Sevenoaks 2s on Saturday.
