Canterbury 2s: 4
Epsom: 0
Epsom made the long trip to Canterbury 2s to open their South Prem 2 East campaign and it soon turned into a day to forget. Canterbury outplayed Epsom from the start and their sharp forward line created several chances. Canterbury soon went 1-0 up, whereupon Epsom had their only real chance when Will Hunt’s strong run drew a penalty stroke. The normally reliable Jack Marfleet stepped up but saw his low flick saved. Canterbury almost immediately went 2-0 up and they went 3-0 up early in the second half to effectively seal the game. To their credit, Epsom stayed in shape, never stopped running, and had some decent passages of play, but they were second best and tiring and went 4-0 down with 10 minutes left. James Tuck was absolutely excellent in goal and a clear Man of the Match. The home side showed Epsom the standards they will need to reach to figure in this league. They are at home to Horsham next week.
