The Mustangs had a welcome return to winning ways in their chase for promotion. Still missing a couple of players through injury the team did, however, welcome back Orr Snr and Jnr plus Pankaj to strengthen the team.
Croydon Whits 3s are a tough nut to crack but the team settled well and started the game at a high pace and soon had Alex Scott terrorising the opposition defence on the right and Chris Dendy finding space and causing trouble on the left of midfield.
After 10 minutes Scott had a mazey run through a packed defence and then scored at the near post. The team then created plenty of chances and kept Croydon pinned in their half. This meant that Bishop, at center back marking a lonely opposition forward, and Holder in goal became virtual spectators for most of the first half except for the occasional breakaway. By half time David Orr and Adam Kerven increased the teams advantage to 3 nil and we were comfortable.
A few changes of positions at half time to keep everyone busy in the game and the team were asked for more of the same in the second half and not to take the foot off the gas.
The game was more stretched in the second half and this allowed Croydon to come into the game a bit more and pose more problems in the Mustang half but everything was tidied up and cleared by the defence allowing the mids and forwards to sweep forward and take advantage of more space. Adam Kerven went into overdrive in the second half and added to his season tally with a well deserved hat trick including a Barnes Wallis short corner that eventually made it to the backboard!
A good win and a very dominant performance as the team ran out winning 6 nil away from home. Next week a 3.15pm start at Blenheim v Cheam Clarets.
