Five years ago we were approached by Nonsuch Abbeyfield (as they were then) and asked if we would like to consider running a sports facility with new pitches and club house in Ewell. Since then we have been through the trials of planning applications, lease negotiations, ground surveys, bat surveys, sports design meetings – the list goes on. Many of our club members and supporters have given generously which has made it possible to get to this stage.
We’re delighted to announce that Phase 1 has started! We’ve signed the sports contract and work has commenced on building the all-weather surface and grass pitches.
A site that looked like this …..
….. now looks like this!
We are on track to have the sporting facilities ready for the beginning of September 2018 – which will be used by the Club for Hockey and by local schools for many of their sporting activities, including Athletics, Cricket, Football and Tennis.
The Club has a stand at the Ewell Summer Fair on Saturday 14th July where we will be able to give further updates on progress as well as running fun activities for people to try. It’s a great family day out so it’d be great to see club members there. Any support is much appreciated, please contact Chris to volunteer if you can spare half an hour or an hour to help out on the stand.
Our next biggest challenge is to raise the funds that will enable us to complete our new Clubhouse!
There are plenty of ways to help fundraise for the new facilities including buying a square (or two) of the pitch, a cake sale, sponsored run (great for fitness), and even shopping online through our selected partners Easyfundraising and now, Amazon Smile. Let’s do this!
