Strikers on strike

AndrewM Mens 5th XI

A  3-2  win this weekend although the score line should’ve read at least 8 -2.

The two goals that went in were not the fault of our Keeper who had a great game – one was an unfortunate deflection off Caggers who reacted admirably to a ball hit hard into the D and was, to be honest, unlucky to put it passed Tuck.  The fact that no one on the pitch said much about it is testament to how well the defence were playing.

Their second goal was well worked as 6 attackers swamped the 4 backs and was clinically despatched.

At the other end it was a different story – the fence behind the oppositions goal got an absolute bashing as we missed the target again and again.   The service being provided by the midfield was excellent – Chris W deservedly getting MOM.  We did manage to get the 3 goals that mattered and deserved to come out on top.  Carlos did score a cracking goal taking the ball well across the D – beating the keeper and then belting it in from an acute angle.

We only had 4 short corners which is surprising given the dominance of our midfield – 2 strikes on goal – one pulled wide – one no strike. We should practice these at training….

Well up to 4th places and not even half way through the season – great stuff.
