Temperature wins pre-season game against Woking
Woking: 0
Epsom: 0
The temperature was hitting 30 degrees as Epsom arrived at Woking- to find two of their squad of eleven players already playing an extensive warm up match with the 2s. Jonny Hugo in particular looked delighted to be doubling up- Tom Tredwell just grimaced and carried on. In actual fact, a depleted Epsom made what looked a tough assignment look easier than anticipated, especially in the second half as some solid passages of passing play could well have yielded at least 3 goals, were it not for some woeful finishing from captain / coach combination James Midmer and Alex Pizzey. Woking had probably had the better of the first half so all in all a draw was probably a fair result. Not a common result in hockey but it was a slow-ish game played in sweltering heat, and a good effort from both sides. Epsom continue their pre-season next week, playing Ashford Middlesex up at City of London Freemens School, Ashtead, and after two promising draws will be looking for a win to get some momentum.
